nook
Tonight is Mimi’s last night in Vancouver before going home to Hong Kong for lord knows when, so she took me and Allison out to Nook!

Mimi and Allie!

Our waiter making the burrata special!

From left to right, USA vs. Italian burrata! I loved both, but for very different reasons. The Italian one was firmer, but with a delicious, slightly nutty flavour. The American one was so soft and creamy, and tasted of fresh milk. Sublime.

Chicken liver crostini! Allison didn’t like it, but me and my aunt both loved it!

Pasta special of the day: gnocci with roasted sun gold tomatoes, roasted garlic cream sauce, and panchetta. Mmmmm… perfect gnocci. The waiter suggested a great wine to go with it, “Marianna” by Greco di Tufo from Campagna. Perfect! Light, dry, with a peachy nose and perfect acidity to cut through the rich, salty sauce.

Mimi’s bolognese! Classic and delicious.
I love Nook. It’s my favourite Italian restaurant in the city, followed by Campagnolo. I’m glad my aunt got to experience a good handful of my top places to eat in Vancouver in her stay. I just wish she’d hurry up and retire here!
